well.. I'm sorry:)
Anyway, if it interests you, I saw Yaniv published a review of this subject on "Constructions with a Straight-Edge and a Compass)". I haven't read it but it would probably provide insight on this problem.

Oh, i misunderstood you then - i thought you said task 4 is impossible by any means - which as you guess, would be quite surprising... I didn't take B2, so i can't really claim to understand that intuition...

Yes. I am saying it's impossible to build it without a using a measuring device, such as a compass- only a straight ruler.
but I could be wrong, this is just my intuition.

it sounds like you claim 4 is impossible, Ronnie - did you understand you correctly?

Number 4 took me two weeks (actually, I did the first 3 in five seconds, then got stuck on the 4th one, and only now looked at the solution).

Actually, the reason is I thought the "allowed operations" are limited - in the first three I only did stuff I can actually do quite percisely without resorting to any measurements - only connecting points and continuing lines which already appear in the picture. (I had a different solution for number 3 which follows these rules). Of course if you're allowed to measure the distance and divide by 5, number 4 is super-easy, but I didn't think I was allowed. (Of course, I had no reason to think I wasn't allowed to do so, and it's pretty silly to make up rules when solving a riddle :) )

Funny.. I looked for a real solution for (4) - AKA geometric solution...
I believe it is not possible actually (using our B2 knowledge :) ) but that should be proven
